August 7, 2009 – Albuquerque, New Mexico

Rode Sandia Crest

Last climb today of our trip. We got up early in Santa Fe and had a good breakfast at the Residence Inn.

When we left Santa Fe, we took Rt 14 which brought us to the start of our climb. The road was a New Mexico scenic highway and is known as the Turquoise Trail.

Soon we arrived at the base of the mountain and started riding. Tom recorded his last video of the trip documenting the ride.

The climb wasn't too difficult, but there was a strong wind that was was quite cold in my opinion. I have to say everyone who said we'd fry in the heat in New Mexico was wring. It was warm, but we also had a lot of cold weather when climbing. This view is of Albuquerque from Sandia Crest.

There was a large antenna complex at the top.

Here's a quick video that shows what the top was like.

After a fun and quick descent, we began the ritual of disassembly of the bikes and packing for shipping. After finishing Tom and I got our bikes shipped home via FEDEX.
