Well, took a long time to get here but we arrived safely with only minor disruption!
Always something when we travel to France. In 2005 we had teh famous flat tire incident, and this trip we were rented a SUV with some "minor" cosmetic damage. All's good and we set off for the long drive to Alpe D'Huez with no sleep.
While on the ride we had to recreate a memory from our 2005 visit to Carcasone .... Tom enjoying a bit of Flan. Here is the memory for all to enjoy!
It was all worth it though as this place is amazing as always. It was croweded as anything when we got here. Seems there is a Triathlong pn Friday planned and today there were mountain bike racing down the single track just around the corner form the apartment we rented.
To shake off teh cobwebs of the flight and drive, we climbed one of the ski slopes for some exercise. I only went part way, but Tom and Tiffany went a bit higher and our new traveller Tracy went all the way to the top! The views of the town were amazing from up here.
Here is a shot of some of the trails for mountain bike riding!
Dinner was good and despite all out our French being "épouvantable" we survived and had a good meal.
One of teh more shicking things we found was a full outdoors ice rink that was up and running even in July!
And now to sleep after a very long day!
One correllary .... while enjoying a bit of Vin last night we notived these lights up on the glacier that we can see from the apartment. Need to fogure this one out as they moved up and down the ice for a couple hours. I vote for Aliens but it was quite interesting to watch!
