Moab Bike Path and Dead Horse Point State Park

Well today was an easy day as we all were beat from ysterday's ride over the La Sal Loop. We started off by reducing the group from 4 to 3 as Molly had to leave us to return homw. We dropped her at Canyonlands Airport to start the day and saw some crazy sky divers while we were there.

While we were leaving, we noticed that we could see the Devil's Garden from Arches National Park from here

After we dropped Molly off we decided to ride the Moab Bike Path which was really nice and very under utilized since everyone mountain bikes here and not road bikes.

Here is a perspedtive on the trail

And some shots of us on the trail riding. It was pretty warm again, around 90 while we rode but really not bad at all.

Since we didnt have a picture of the sign in from of Arches National Park, we stopped and had a nice French Couple take our picture

And soon we were back in Moab, ride complete. We've ridden over this bike path bridge that crosses the Colorado River several times and I've always liked the view

Ive also been intrigued by teh art work on the bridge which features teh red rock from the area.

Here is the graphic for today's short ride.

And the map vid

After getting changed and grabbing more water, we visited Dead Horse Point State Park and just when you thought we were out of spectacular places, this may have been one of the best.

This place was just so big and so bright with constrasting colors it was amazing. I could post a hundred pics, but will keep this short with only the best.

Here's a great pic of Tom and Tiffany

Here is a picture of the neck. Legend has it that the cowboys use to drive the wild stallions to the point, close off the nexk and pick the good stallions to live and leave the rest to die. Hence the name Dead Horse Point State Park. Shame such a beautiful place has such as dark past.

We also found the other side of the Pot Ash processing site that we saw from our ride on day 1. The blue lakes are where they gather the sodium chloride, allow it to evaporate out and then send to the plant for processing into fertilizer.

We also listened to an older gentleman tell stories about filming Thelma and Louise and City Slickers 2 in the park. This picture highlights were the car went off the cliff in that famous final scene.

We haven't seena ton of animals on this trip but we did see a few of these little guys. Between them and the lizards, we have been avoiding fast small crtitters on most of our rides.

Finally we stopped for lunch at a Mexican Restaurant and broke out the Margarita's. Time is getting short on this trip .. one more day or riding tomorrow, packing the bikes and off to Salt Lake City Tuesday for the trip home Wednesday.
